Rije\u010d je o novijoj obradi knjige &#8220;The Midwich Cuckoos&#8221; Johna Wyndhama, koja je poslu\u017eila i kao temelj prve ekranizacije &#8220;Sela prokletih&#8221; iz 1960. godine, a koju je re\u017eirao Wolf Rilla.<\/p>\n<p>Dok slikovito ameri\u010dko obalno mjesto Midwich jednog ranog jutra prekriva zlokobni tamni oblak, nekoliko stanovnika iz sna budi neobi\u010dan zvuk sli\u010dan ljudskom stenjanju. Me\u0111u mje\u0161tanima pred kojima je jo\u0161 jedan uobi\u010dajeni dan su i simpati\u010dni lije\u010dnik Alan Chaffee (Christopher Reeve) sa suprugom Barbarom (Karen Kahn), te atraktivna Jill McGowan (Linda Kozlowski) s po\u017ertvovnim mu\u017eem Frankom (Michael Par\u00e9). Dok Alan i Barbara hitaju na posao, Jill sudjeluje u organizaciji skore mjesne proslave, a Frank automobilom odlazi izvan sela. Frank primijeti onesvije\u0161tenu stoku i sam izgubi svijest te pri punoj brzini automobilom udari u drugo vozilo i ostane na mjestu mrtav. Istodobno, i svi mje\u0161tani Midwicha iz neobja\u0161njivih razloga padnu u nesvijest, a isto se dogodi i svim seoskim \u017eivotinjama. Koji sat potom stignu interventne vladine vojne postrojbe, koje Midwich i onesvije\u0161tene mje\u0161tane stave u karantenu, a istragu slu\u010daja povjere iskusnoj znanstvenici Susan Verner (Kirstie Alley). Shvativ\u0161i da za tajanstvena zbivanja ne postoji racionalno obja\u0161njenje, Susan zaklju\u010di da je rije\u010d o najavi mnogo stra\u0161nijih doga\u0111aja.
